Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's mother was a military spouse and the family moved to Louisiana when Decker was just nine years old. Decker was a winner at a talent competition when she sang the song of Patsy Montana, I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. When she was 15, Decker resided in Georgia. She was writing her first songs and made regular trips to Nashville and making rounds of record labels and music publishers in search of an agreement. At the age of 17, the Big Yellow Dog Records representative heard her and began selling her songs to labels and musicians. The demos of Decker were listened to from Mercury Records president David Massey and then passed to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group affiliated record label L.A. Reid was able to agree Decker to a deal. Jessie James released her debut album in August 2009. It was a self-titled album. Jessie James enjoyed a modest number of hits and Wanted was able to reach the Top 40 on the Singles Charts. Decker has always been a "country" artist but this album was produced and promoted in a way that appeals to the pop market. Decker was dissatisfied by the two other singles released from the album with the top executives of the record label for more control. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which was more than a country track. The second album of Decker, dubbed in the form of Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved after Mercury was disappointed by the results of three of the singles on the country charts.
